@OPTIMUS so far the storm isn't so bad. Not a lot of rain. Tons of wind though. I'm in zone B (zone A is by the beach) so the flooding isn't terrible. Plus i'm on the 4th floor and I still have power it's definitely bad enough that we shouldn't be outside. Surrounding areas are losing power too. Overnight and into Monday will be the worst for us I think. Is Italy affected by the storm at all?

@ULTRAMA6NET1C: Well, here in Italy we never had REAL storms (in the sense of hurricanes, tornadoes and stuff like that): the most that can happen is strong thunderstorms and heavy rainfall that may cause some flooding, but they're obviously nothing compared to what you have to endure in the United States every year.
I have a friend who lives in New York... the other day she told me that the alert level is very high, and last night I learned from the news that 6 million people are in danger and the authorities want to start the evacuation.
Oh man... I really hope everything goes well for you all!!!

Yeah whoever was in zone A had to force evacuate. My friend is a cop who was working yesterday. He said the flooding was so bad in some areas that people were standing on top of there homes IN THE STORM. That's what they get for not evacuating. It seems the worst is over for NYC. 2 days off from work was awesome though

you got lucky man! i lost power for days! alot of electric boxes blew up and trees got ripped apart .. i even saw a house destroyed from a huge ass tree.. the only good thing that came out of this is i got a week off from school lool anyway i finally got power back today im glad this is over
bad news is i heard on the news that they're saying this is supposedly the start of a hurricane era here im hoping they're wrong because that would be horrible

@Jaydee1003 - Yo word I def got lucky because only my buildings have power. the whole surrounding area is still darkness. Just 4 blocks from me is totally destroyed. I'm amazed at how far inland the water came - about a mile or more in some parts. Jersey got destroyed too. Good to hear that you're safe.
Hurricane Era - sheeeit. That's one of the main things I love about NYC, not really affected by major natural disasters. I guess that's been changing.
