For now I will no update my console, there are an important xploit in v1.76. I want in a point jailbreak my console like I do on all my consoles so for now I'm out for PS4 themes. I have to wait in that version if I want scene in my console. I will buy another console soon one for the scene and another for online purposes and things like this "updates",themes, etc for now.
Haven't had the chance to update my console yet, but judging by some screenshots there is currently only an option to download themes from the PS Store. No option to install from a USB, so presumably custom made themes are not in the pipeline. Unless there is a backlash against Sony for this, don't expect custom themes to ever make it onto PS4. If they intended on doing it, it would have been easier to have included the option in this update... Very disappointing.

The PS3 was originally like that too.
* November 17, 2006 – PS3 is released in the US.
* July 24, 2007 – change the background to display any image is introduced in firmware 1.90.
* November 8, 2007 – user created static themes is introduced in firmware 2.00.
* September 1, 2009 – dynamic themes is introduced with firmware 3.00.
* April 9, 2011 – zembor0 from PSX-Scene releases the Dynamic Theme Editor.
If the PS4 scene progresses in the same way, users will be able to make static themes in 2015 and dynamic themes in 2019.
I personally think user generated dynamic themes on PS4 will come sooner than that

As I said before I will stay in 1.76 and from there if Sony don't want to give us the feature the scene sooner or later will give us that feature for sure. In a PS3 with CFW you can install themes without the need of the official tool in the XMB. We can copy the .p3t directly to the hdd via FTP or archive manager to theme directory from PC to PS3 or even with USB to PS3. So as I said if Sony don't want to give us the feature via official update with the Scene sooner or later we can do it. It's sad, very sad apparently this is another feature Sony want to remove "Custom Themes". That movements of Sony are the reason I always jailbreak or use CFWs on my consoles. In PS3 remove PS2 support and the Scene give us back in Slim consoles via Cobra, Isos and emulator, remove Other OS and the Scene give us back too, the same thing on some capabilities like use of third parties accesories, etc. I dont know why always have to remove features.As YOGOSAN said is very disappointing.
I read some rumors that its posible to install the xploit in FW 2.00 with other trick but I will stay on firmware 1.76 anyway.
Here is the note :

I am aware of two different ways we can implement this exploit post 2.0. As for the 2.0 update, we should be able to get this working as is with some minor changes. There is another trick i am aware of that will allow people to implement this on any firmware version, but it is possible that will be fixed eventually as well. No need to buy another console just yet."

I agree with you, guys, but I guess we just have to wait.
Anyway, I suggest you NOT TO UPDATE your console for now: after installing FW 2.0, looks like a lot of users are having big problems, like serious freezes - discs cannot be ejected - or the console doesn't even turn on anymore - and other stuff like that!
Much better if you wait, guys...

I suppose the many minor updates XBOX ONE gets is better than 1 big update. That way the problems are easier to find and solve.
Here's a article on the bricked PS4s (it's not a brick) and the 1.76 exploit being patched on PS4.
