Use a virtual machine like Parallels Desktop on Mac to use Windows inside Mac OS X.
Thanks faxtron. I installed parallels and i am runnin win xp, but when i sweep or try to run rat_compiler i get an error message: application could not run because its configuration is incorrect. Resintalling the app may solve the problem.... WTF? hahahha
thanks community
You need to put all the raf tools in a directory or folder without spaces in the name of the folder and run it in desktop or in c:/

hello i seem to b having troble done what u said to do but still geting tmp file and the files have no passis there in a c: keep geting these gtf files with other ones to any clues as to whats going on ?
If you are getting gtf files but no raf it means there is an error in the xml (trying to reach a file that doesn't exist) or the total file size is bigger than 15mb. Are your background images 640x360? Do you have more than 87 frames/images?
"Save and drag AnimatedWindow.xml onto the raf_compiler.exe in my "EXE" folder, you should then get AnimatedWindow.raf in the same folder as AnimatedWindow.xml. Copy Animated.raf to my "Theme" folder then drag AnimatedWindowTheme.xml onto the p3t_compiler.exe. Finally you should get AnimatedWindowTheme.p3t in the same folder. Install to your PS3 and see how it looks."
im on this part.. im getting an error on the p3t compiler.. im not getting *.p3t file.. im doin the animated full screen.. help pls..

Do you have your RAF file in your theme folder.
Having a bit of trouble with this. When I go to install the theme (consisting of 33 images) I did everything as directed and had to manually convert the pictures to DDS or else I get a bunch of errors, but i get http://tinypic.com/r/nysktg/6 on my ps3 as the background with the default icons and such...Where did I go wrong? I am running XP SP3 and my ps3 is at firmware 4.11. The only thing that seemed to change is the alerts are blueish on the ps3. Any help would be appreciated.
To start get a 5 second clip of your choice then open up Photoshop. Click file and then import video frames to layers. on that part when i click on import video frames to layers it said: could not complete the video frames to layers command because QuickTime version 7.1 or later is required need help on that does any one have a link to that that be helpfull??
Firstly, thanks for the tutorial and files! I've been at it for days and have everything coming out all right minus my icons.. I loaded the default icons into Photo Shop, inverted (color) all of them and then saved (overwrite) them back in the theme folder. Same file names and folder created-in. After compiling and installing, i find that the default icons loaded instead. Some are the icons I created which leaves me perplexed as to why the rest are the icons from GlowBall's original files. My AnimatedFull video plays excellent. The frames play through great (102 custom frames)! No change in 98% of the icons… I've re-compiled numerous times now to no avail. Are there more steps involved to get MY icons to compile instead of the icons that aren't even in the folder anymore? I've tried searching info on the GimConv (I assumed since the icon files all have matching .gim files..) or similar 'no icon' issues. I don't know where else to look for my answers. Anybody have any suggestions? FTLOG
Hi,
i'm new to the forum & theme building. i have tried making an animated full screen theme but cant get the background to fit it has a black part at the top and at the bottom.
i have tried changing wallpaper size, no luck and played around with the x, y, z position.
any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Well I'm trying for the first time to do a Animated Theme, doing it in 1080 and only 15 frames, which is enough for me.
Anyways, I got the DDS files, got the RAF, then got the p3t file. I place it in my Memory Card (FAT32) and try to install it, but for some reason it doesn't appear. I have tried different Memory Cards and my PS3 doesn't find my p3t file.
The DDS files are 1 mbs of size, so that made the RAF file 5mb in total, then after compiling the p3t, it ended up been 5.34mbs.
I have tried it several times again, but still not working.
The only different thing I did to the tutorial was that I didn't use Photoshop to create the JPEGs, I used After Effect, since I created a animation from there. Then I uploaded the JPEGs to Photoshop and save them to DDS, suing RBG 4 no alpha/no MIP/1 as settings.
Has someone had this problem before? BTW I'm using fw 4.20 dunno if the new FW has some more limitations.
Anyways, thanks for the great tutorial, hopefully someone can help me out with my problem.
EDIT: Ok, tried it again and it worked, dunno whats wrong, maybe it was just my PS3 been lazy. lol

I had that error.
I tried to be resolved by downloading iTunes, which is included QuickTime.
I rebooted the computer and nothing was coming out the error, so I tried to use Photoshop 32-bit instead of 64 and it was perfect 🙂
Not really know if it was to download the QuickTime and use the PS CS5 32bit or only the second option, so test first PS 32 bit.
(Sorry 4 my bad english :P)
I have a question:
Its possible to have several Animated Backgrounds in just 1 file? I would like to add like 8, 15 frames 1080 animations into 1 theme, but not sure if its possible. There is a sticky thread that says that that you can have several backgrounds in 1 Dynamic Theme, but not sure if that applies to animated backgrounds or not.
But I assume its not possible with the 15 mbs limit.
