Do you have spaces in your directory?
example
C:\Users\Ro Beast = directory with spaces
C:\Users\RoBeast = directory with no spaces
To use the raf_compiler there must be NO spaces. Also do not delete any .dae files they are the core files of the background. Try to run it again and let me know if you get a tmp and what its contents are.
Thanks for the replies.
GB, no spaces.
I'll make a quick vid of what happens when I drop the xml on the compiler. I'll use 5 dds files and adjust the js and xml. Might be something stupid I'm doing but I've seemingly tried everything.
For the people having trouble compiling the raf do this it works for me everytime. Inside glowballz AnimatedToolz folder open the animated window folder select everything inside it and hit ctrl + C then open your AnimatedWindow folder (The folder that containz your layerz and .dds filez remember no spacez in the directory. then hit ctrl + V to paste everything you copied from Glowballz folder inside of your folder. Then open Glowballz AnimatedToolz folder find the EXE folder open it and inside your AnimatedWindow folder right click the xml file and select copy then go over to the EXE folder and right click raf compiler.exe and select paste.
You should now have the raf in your folder at the bottom right click it select cut scroll up and paste it inside the Theme Folder again right click the animatedwindowtheme.xml file inside this folder and copy it open the EXE folder and highlight p3tcompiler.exe then right click and select paste
Should now have your theme file Hope this helps.
If some one could direct me to a tutorial on changing the Dynamic themez iconz i would appreciate it. i have P3textractor but when i extract the iconz the file namez are like this. "icon_accountmanage_1.gim.png" but inside glowballs theme folder the icons are all like this "icon_accountmanage_1.png (notice theres no .gim in the file name) surely i dont have to rename every single icon and remove the word .gim from the name then copy them to Glowballz theme folder overwriting the standard iconz or do i?

Is it possible my raf compiler is corrupt? I have been at this for days. I keep getting a temp folder. I have tried renaming the first saved file as layer (as radz suggested) but it did not help. I tried converting each jpeg to dds one by one (without using automate). I have also manually inserted the dds files (in order). I cut the files down to 3 and edited the js and xml files accordingly but still no raf (just a temp). I have included a pic of what my temp folder includes. I tried deleting the dae bg (only keeping the dds) but then only get an empty temp folder and no raf. I have also included a pic of what my EXE folder looks like. Btw, I'm a noob. Created my first ever theme a few days back. (COD Elite Theme). Trying to move on past the "smoke".

I do think that it is a bit rude to ask when your not even a member. Register, like the themes here it's FREE!!!
I finally got it to work correctly after I deleted the last 3 DDS files that it added past the image files. I am registered but forgot to sign in to it. SORRY.

Firstly thanks for this tutorial, I can tell you worked real hard on it and its really kind what you do for all the people that visit this site. Can the animated window themes only be made as 1080p because I've noticed the static wallpaper is stretched beyond the borders of my 720p ( some of the image is cut off on each side )

Yeah with this tutorial I only put files for 1080p. You can edit how the background is projected within 3D space by editing the camera settings. Go into the AnimatedWindow.xml for the raf then edit the Z position. I think you make it less to zoom away from the images I could be confused though lol. This is same effect as shrinking the plane (border.dae).
Also I posted how to do this to Mr. Shizzy on page 4. Let me know if you need help or even if you want me to do it for you man I will
Hello, first, thanks for your tutorial GlowBall, it's really nice to share it with us ^^
Now I have a little problem I've search every where, and I've seen there were people who have this problem to on this topic:
I can't make the raf file u__u' I don't know why, I've check my .js and .xml file, my dds files and also I've try to make new .dds files with layer name different (I have a French photoshop because I'm french) but all I've got it's a bg.dae file in a tmp folder.
I don't think it's a layer problem as in this video tutorial, the guy use a Spanish photoshop version ^^' feature=player_embedded
To finish, I use 14 dds images sized 1920x1080 for the AnimatedFull version.
Thanks to answer 🙂 (And sorry for my english).

@ GlowBall, what you are saying makes sense to me, but for now the 1080p doesn't really ruin the theme enough on my 720p tv to worry about converting the background to 720p. Plus it will look fine on other peoples 1080p t.v.'s. Thanks m8, I will look for shizzy's post if i ever need to edit anything.

Read my tutorial again there is a message at the bottom
u___u' I've read all this topic message... Except this part of the text in red.
Thanks for all, everything work now in fact the space was at my first folder "Mes Documents" (My Documents) so I didn't see it ^^'
Thanks again 😉
GlowBall,
First off I want to say thank you for this tutorial and the animated slide show one.
What is the process for editing the animated window for the animated window theme. What I am asking is, How do you edit it? All I want to do is edit the Window frame sort of like the way you did with the Battlefield 3 Animated theme. Just not sure what I am suppose to edit. I really appreciate all what you have created and how that you help all of us.

@ rog6us I didn't edit the border.dds . I just copied my wallpaper onto the border.dds and saved that. Then to add my border i used a script or action to add a border png file of my liking to the outer edge of the frames. If you don't understand what I'm saying just ask and I'll try to explain better.

You would need to explain this a little to me ore if you do not mind. Thanks in advance.

My last post didn't go through
What you need to do is edit the alpha channel of the border.dds in Photoshop. i would recommend using the original border.dds and using the rgb channel to help. My battlefiled border.dds was hard and time consuming. So just start off with a faded shape or even go around the black edge with a white brush that is not 100% solid if you get what I mean. Use the net to help with Photoshop.

I do not have a clue how to do that so if you have time to explain it please do so. I am not in a real big hurry about it so if you get a chance to explain it, I would highly appreciate it.
You know, I'm a bit of a div! lol
after two animated window themes and a lot of dynamic themes, I just noticed they are all in HD 😛 never passed my mind before lol
Glowball, it's cool for me man but, what if someone who has a normal square-old style non HD TV tries using a theme created from this tutorial?
Just curious man 🙂
Thanks again for all your hardwork mate.
@toxic,
I'm not sure about it but I read somewhere that animated themes will just stretch to fit the aspect ratio of your t.v. so if you made an animated theme with 4:3 ratio frames it would probably look good on a standard def tv but horrible on a hdtv, so you'd just have to include "SD Only" in the title or something. As for the animated window theme glowball would have to go back into 3dsmax or the script and rearrange things.
@ShadowsVigilante,
I don't think you will be able to make a good looking window style animated theme on your sd tv unless glowball goes back and remakes the border dds, you could try asking him, but I don't know how hard it would be for him. You could stick to full window animated themes by making the frames with a 4:3 ratio although I'm not sure if it would work so i could make a theme for you to test out if you want or you could try making one, sorry
