@ Kellyjaye remember 1280x720 = 34frames maximum.on a full animated theme. if you dont tell it to skip every 2 frames it will make a lot of layers you can change the frame skip to reduce the amount tho, (depending on your animation of course), you can skip as many as every 4 frames (maybe more but ive never tried as i find 3 is perfect) both my themes skip every 3 frames and i dont think its noticeable.

You say things are to pixelated,Maybe this is a stupid question but is your video definately in HD? reason i ask is because i downloaded a video from youtube it said it was HD in the title but i forgot to change the settting on the video to a HD resolution before i downloaded it, so it downloaded in standard definition and obviously when i came to resize my images to 720p res they looked pixelated. because they were being enlarged instead of shrunk. hope this helps

@D-Jay

I didnt know the max frames was 34 for full screen, maybe that has something to do with it not making the file when I compile it.  Will give that a try.  And for the frame skipping, doesnt skipping any at all make it less smooth of a video?

And Im pretty sure its HD, it says it is when I play it.  I created the video myself with After Effects and converted to a MOV which says its in HD in the player.  I really dont understand all the video formats to convert to with After Effects though, this was just the first one that seemed to export to something that looked right.

As for the profile pic, I have no idea!  I cant even understand how it used the pic of me!  I just signed up and there it was, I never even uploaded it!  Must be spyware!! 😛

You go to gravatar.com, use the same email there as you're using here on ps3-themes.com and your avatar will show up here automatically.

Yeah if you go over the limit it wont compile the theme, for 720p fullscreen ya can have a max of 34frames and for 1080p fullscreen ya can have a max of 15frames i wouldnt recommend that tho its very hard to get a decent animation with only 15frames imo 720p looks just as good anyway, as for the animation being smooth it all depends on the video you choose, heres a trick i use to see how the animation will play out before i go ahead and make the dds files (open your animatedwindow folder after you have exported your layers to files and click your 1st jpeg file then open with windows picture viewer now select slideshow and just hold your right arrow key and it will flick through all your jpegs kinda playing your animation) easiest way to make sure ya video is in HD is to right click the file/properties look at the dimensions of the video.or use vlc player to play your video while its playing right click the window/interface/codec information and note the dimensions there, Unfortunately i cant get after effects to try a MOV file on it, but i use Xilisoft HD converter to convert my movies to MOV.files. and mine always work fine,

Lifes story over lol hopefully this makes sense to ya, @Admin cheers Cool

Even tough 34 frames is the maximum for 720p and 15 is max for 1080p , can't you just manually save every file to .dds instead of using the automate and batch control? It would take a while but it i don't think there's a reason why it shouldn't work.

@glowball

Ok, I tried it again with only using the first 34 frames and it did compile and install and definitely looks a lot sharper.  Its only a bit slower which is understandable so will need to recreate my movie or something.  So my question is this, is there a "correct" dpi and dimensions to resize the images too when doing 720 and 1080?  I just took a guess at it but seems to have worked.

@ kellyjaye

I don't really understand your question sorry.

The problem is that the animation come from a video then the frames are turned into jpeg and then converted to dds. Finally then the dds is streched over a plane.dae model. I am gonna look into something to make the animation look sharper cus I have learned a couple of new things, though I don't promise improvements.

@glowball

Well your tutorial says to resize to 640x480 at 72dpi.  When I put it on the PS3, it looked low res.  I then tried to resize at 1280x720 but left it at 72dpi (was thinking of trying higher) and it looked a lot better, though it seems it would only let me compile 34 frames.

Im guessing the 640x480 was more for SD and not HD.  I was finding different dimensions for HD on the net but not sure if there are "official" sizes for 720 and 1080, not even sure which is the one I made.

Anyway, looking forward to the new tricks you have learned 🙂

Tbh i havnt noticed any difference with using a 300dpi image or a 72dpi image i think the dpi is mainly just for printing to get better print quality, course thats just my opinion and my eyes aint the best lol.

D-Jay Menace is correct that doesn't really make a difference with themes (tv output).

You ask a lot of questions lol. You can have custom font with custom firmware only. Not to sound like a twat but stick with the thread with your questions. You can start a new thread if you like with questions on font.

I think you can change the colour of the shadow of the font tho to make it easier to read, if i remember correctly look in animatedwindowtheme.xml (in theme folder) locate these lines.

<font selection="1" />      change the number to 1-10?

    <color selection="1" /> same applys here change number.

I havnt actually tried this, but i dont see why it wont work.

Jay

Font selections are as follows:

0 = Original
1 = Rounded
2 = Pop

Color selection is the tint to the text and side menus, the colors are as follows:

0 = Original (Uses system timer set color)
1 = White
2 = Yellow
3 = Light green
4 = Pink
5 = Dark green
6 = Pale purple
7 = Cyan
8 = Dark blue
9 = Purple
10 = Orange
11 = Brown
12 = Red

Yeah I guess I do :-).  It might make more sense to use the other forums now!  Its just neat that I can finally make one of these and trying to get everything down to do something right.  I think Im almost done with my first one too, just dealing with all the icons is a bit of a pain!

Use a virtual machine like Parallels Desktop on Mac to use Windows inside Mac OS X.
