This is a quick tutorial on how to change any of your dynamic themes background everytime your PS3 is switched on or everytime your PS3 XMB is re-loaded. It's just like creating a HD/SD theme which has different backgrounds.
You will need the following:
1. p3textractor.exe ( http://www.ps3-themes.com/them.....-extractor )
2. p3tcompiler.exe version 1.80.0.0 (find in dynamic theme editor's "Tools" folder)
3. A variety of dynamic backgrounds(Anim_1.jpg) you want to use
Create or download a dynamic theme which you want to add more backgrounds to and extract it with p3textractor.exe (drag and drop). I am going to use a variety of Mortal Kombat dynamic backgrounds(Anim_1.jpg files) as an example.
All you need to do is edit the .xml file (I use WordPad). In the bgimagetable section, Copy the line with <bgimage anim="Anim_1.jpg"/> and paste underneath so there are now 2 lines of the same information. note that they have to be in line with each other as the page reads down (see snippet). Do this as many times as you like I think you can have up to 8 though(not tested more).
Here is a snippet of the .xml file I created.
<bgimagetable>
<bgimage anim="Jade.jpg"/>
<bgimage anim="Ermac.jpg"/>
<bgimage anim="SubZero.jpg"/>
<bgimage anim="UnoffcialMK.jpg"/>
<bgimage anim="Scorpion.jpg"/>
<bgimage anim="LiuKang.jpg"/>
</bgimagetable>
As you can see I re-named all of the dynamic backgrounds(Anim_1.jpg) files so the PS3 loads each background(not just 1) and you know which dynamic background is which. It doesn't matter what you name them but keep the .jpg extension. Also each "bgimage anim" has to stay within the "bgimagetable".
Once complete save the .xml file then drag and drop the saved .xml file on to the p3tcompiler.exe. It should then create a .p3t file in the same folder.
Please note you can have Anim_1.jpg files from different styles of dynamic backgrounds. But you can't use original Anim_1.jpg files. If you wish to use an original Anim_1.jpg file(like Heavy Rain) just run the original images through the dynamic theme editor and copy the Anim_1.jpg file from …Dynamic Theme EditorTheme FilesHeavy Rain. Also this has only been tested in HD.
I have also created a Anim.jpg usb loader which basicly loads your Anim.jpg(dynamic background) file from your usb root. Once loaded yor Anim.jpg creation will show on the PS3 xmb but with standard white PS3 icons. I find this really quick and a usefull tool for creating dynamic backgrounds.
Here is a link to some themes I created http://www.ps3-themes.com/?s=glowball . MDT's(Multiple Dynamic Theme's) are the dynamic themes with multiple backgrounds.
I was going to make a youtube video for this but it's so simple and a video would take to long. But if you are still stuck just ask and I wil try to help.
Thanks for the info Glowball!
I have created a few dynamic themes using your other tutorial. I pan on uploading them soon.
I would like to try and make a MDT. But I notice the new tutorial you have puts the animations into .raf files, not .jpg files anymore.
So I wil have to look into how to make MDTs using your new method. (maybe decompiling one of the newer MDTs and taking a look at the xml will give me some hints)
Was also wondering if you have made a AnimatedFull.raf loader? If so, could you please post it?
That would be extremely useful to the community! 🙂
Thanks again for all your hard work and contributions to the scene man 😀
