Hey there fellas! I've been kinda new to this animated PS3 theme creation thingie, however I think I can handle computer stuff well, I mean editing files and such.

Please help me understand some basic stuff, I've been lurking on the forum but found no answers.

As I can see there are two ways to go:
- simple themes with basic images (http://www.ps3-themes.com/ps3-.....me-builder)
- animated themes with re-editing some existing p3t material (http://www.ps3-themes.com/dyna.....eme-editor)

I've done some basic one-wallpaper themes with custom icons, that's cool but now I want to get my feet wet in the animated scene as well. What I want to do exactly is grab some 1920x1080p videos from Youtube for example and than use these as a source to my theme files.

I guess I have to convert the video frames to layers or something like that to make a loop. But the question is, how difficult it is to do, and how many frames a p3t file can handle if I want to go for HD resolution? Maybe is it better to have theme file optimized for 720p instead of 1080p?

I'd like to ask for your help guys, I feel I could create some cool themes, but I'm a bit confused now where to start.

Thanks in advance!

Greetings,

GlowBall created a most helpful tutorial a while back for Animated Themes.
It's on the forum at: http://www.ps3-themes.com/foru.....s-tutorial

Also, converting video frames to layers is NOT the only way to create an animated theme. You can utilize the
functionality of PS3 javascript to create just about any kind of animated theme you can think of.

Here is a link for info: http://dudu.clx.free.fr/wiki/i.....PS3RAF#XML

My first animated theme that was posted yesterday (Scarface Animated) was constructed without
video frame to layer conversion. It really just comes down to preference.

I hope this helps!
