After struggling like a moron for five hours , I decided my best course of action would be to make an account and ask what I'm doing wrong . I'm not that savvy with modding tools / coding but I can do my basics (some) . Anyways , here are my questions / problems :
(1) Whether or not I am supposed to , when I try to open the "PLACE JPEG IMAGES HERE" file it will not open and says I need to register a program to open up that file type in control panel> file association . Only problem being , on my computer it lists the file type as "file" . there's no file type or extension to it . This also means it won't let me place items in it , no matter what I try .
(2) Even though I'm not putting the files into the "PLACE JPEG IMAGES HERE" file I did try to run the batch for the correct amount of pictures which is 10. ( all are 1920x1080 , all properly named ) When it says everything is good and its finished , it never prompts me to hit enter halfway through the process , it just tells me to press any key to close despite the process not finishing . It does however convert all the files but it puts them into "tmp" and not "PT3" , they're also separate file types ,most all of which are different types of files .
(3) .......What am I supposed to do for a preview ? Is it necessary ? If so where am I supposed to put it ?
Sorry for the most-likely dumb questions lol . - Jon.

I'm fairly new to making themes, but I found your tutorial to be the most simplistic and newcomer-friendly one. I've managed to get most of everything that I want working, besides my 1920 x 1080 backgrounds having black spaces on the left and right sides in the slideshow. I'm going to try resizing to 1600 x 1000 and see if that fixes it. (EDIT: resizing didn't fix it)
I was wondering how to add the zoom in and zoom out effect that Glowball has in their slideshow build? I've spent days looking through the forums here trying to find a post somewhere about it, with no luck. Any ideas on how to add the zoom in/out effect to this version? Any help is greatly appreciated.

@fuyume - I've seen a couple people having the black bars on the side issue. Now that I have a newer, bigger, better TV I've experienced this also. I will update the files with a fix.
I will add a zoom version also. It will zoom like this theme - http://www.ps3-themes.com/cars.....eshow.html
