Haha now I understand why “madthemez” is acting the way he’s acting. It’s because “madthemez” = “Montage Mik”. He must be obsessed with this website the way he acts…lol.
yes i used the x-wing as a template, i could never draw it off the top of my head, i dont even like star wars. i can tell you there are about 40 layers in that icon alone
Here’s my final on the “ratings” system.
As it is makes it impossible for us to know it’s true rating. top of page this says 153 votes , yesterday on top 50 highest this had 663 votes & today on 50 highest this has 11 votes.
Makes no sense to me at all.
Which is the REAL figures ???
NO matter as they’ll never change the system to a more accurate rating scheme.
I may look for images for themed icons instead of hand drawing them – That seems popular with some theme makers.
I know what you mean, Madthemez, but I think we should be content as it is… About the icons: just try. If appreciated, it will be a satisfaction and eventually you’ll be able to decide whether to continue to create them or not. Otherwise, you’ll continue to use standard icons. No i don’t think leaving the easily abused rating system as it is is a good idea,That’s why i suggested changing it. I think – Registered users only & vote as you download. Tally up the 1st download & vote for each user. That would give the best representation of how popular a theme “actually” is.(number of views don’t show this) Seems strange you have to register to post a comment but anyone can abuse the votes freely for weeks at a time. But this is just my opinion & the system won’t change. Maybe at least re-start the highest… Read more »
Yep, I think that combine vote & download, counting only 1 vote and only 1 download for each user (no matter if registered or not) might work. But I suppose that this would mean redesigning the entire management system of the site: so, might as well leave everything as is, don’t you think?

How about only count 1 download & 1 vote for each “registered” user.

You know, speaking of ratings, I thought about the possibility of replacing them with the downloads and I came to the conclusion that probably the situation could even worsen, because I think that anyone could download the same theme several times to increase the number of downloads…
i was intrigued by your origami icons & did a search for “Origami X Wing” & “Origami Dove” amongst others – With some interesting results.

Scores aren’t relevant to me ,i’ve only posted a couple so far & they aren’t going to win any awards LOL.
In my opinion, all give too much importance to the vote, Madthemez: I think this is the real problem of many theme makers. It seems to me that all are competing to see who accumulates the most votes.

madthemez, you doesn’t seem to be very understanding of how these sort of scripts works. And how our caching system we use on this website works, which will delay changes to scores/votes on certain pages until a new cache is generated. So we feel that it’s not fair to complain and accuse us on mathers you apparently have no idea how they’re working.
i never cared about ratings, ratings are over-rated
I’m unconvinced scores still seem dodgy.
At top of page this theme has 153 votes = 4.18.
In top 50 highest rated this theme shows 663 votes = 4.21 , Yet few hours ago this had over 600 votes with a score just over 2 STAR.
Proxy votes or not these figures don’t tally.
Voting system is meaningless as the MATH doesn’t work.

Why not allow voting only to registered users wouldn’t that solve the Proxy problem.
I’ve not been here long but the scores & votes just don’t seem to tally if you’ve cleared scores why doesn’t it clear votes too.
This is why many theme makers stopped ,as we’ve been discussing here.
Ratings aren’t “fixed”, once in a while we run our filter which cleans out all 1 star proxy votes for the themes. After that you should see a more fair result.
Hey Yogosan your score has magically climbed back up REALLY QUICKLY since my last comment, maybe you won’t quit now.
They should just show downloads ,this proves the scoring here is regularly “fixed” depending on the theme maker.
So the star rating really is meaningless.

i doubt i’ll be starting anything new , i might finish up the stuff i started but that might be it. it does take a long time to make good icons by hand. irt does get extremely tedious. designing a new icon is the fun part. i usually enjoy creating good home row icons. then the thought of creating 60 more is just awful, and incredibly time consuming. it feels like i’m coming to the end of the learning curve. i guess it gave me some comfort knowing there were others trying to perfect their themes. the bar was set… Read more »

I’ve posted a MW 2 theme but it still uses default icons i’m afraid.
even they take ages to customise.

coming to the realisation that from the last 3 years of theme making, all of the best theme makers who inspired me to try harder are gone completely. m0dus did get recruited by konami and said a few months ago that his new, best work is coming soon. but i’v seen/heard nothing since. if there were alot of good themers still around, i would keep going, and this comments section wouldnt be half as long on my themes!! even though its mostly myself and optimus. i’d hate to discourage people from making themes, but i’v been doing it for a long time, in that time i’v seen more people give up on themes than i saw people at least try, if i dint see the great themes i wouldnt have contnued. you only have to take one look to see all the new themes are recycled icons and upscaled pictures of megan fox. it only getting worse as time goes on. eventually people will just stop looking for themes altogether. in all honesty i upload more thes than i download. i can’t remember the last… Read more »
From what i’ve read from Yogosan ,He enjoyed seeing other TOP themes & they inspired him to do better – Maybe now he feels alone so there’s nothing to inspire him anymore.
But i’d like to see the GOW 3 theme before he packs in for good, Really looking forward to that game.
What I can not really understand is what gave rise to the whole affair. I mean, knowing the enthusiasm that always distinguished Yogosan from other theme makers, this… how can I say… this sudden change in his thinking seems to me so strange…
I think Yogosan is done with themes Optimus, He’s been discussing it with Montage Mick on another site for couple of weeks. Yogosan said to Montage Mik “i wish apt was still up and running, because (honestly) presuming your finished, if i stop, it’s all over. the high quality themes are finished,”. I think thats a bit harsh to other theme makers here Yogosan , Optimus says he makes top themes too but you say its over if you stop. Sorry for my frankness Yogosan, but (omitting the rest) from what I just read it seems to me that you’re discouraging too much. In particular I was struck by the fact that you say not to have the fun like before doing themes (and now you’re not drunk… :D). Well, this is not the Yogosan I knew time ago… so I wonder why. Glad you’re back Yogosan. Why will i never have chance to find out whats good or bad about my themes ??? M0dus & Montage Mik were always my favourite themers (no offence) But other than a few updates they’ve vanished. Thinking about it i don’t personally believe Montage Mik fixed any scores, he was one of the main people who advocated downloads instead of votes on APT ,he used to ask for it here too as do others. You know, madthemez, I don’t think I have an answer to your questions, but I suppose there must be some kind of control by those who manage the site to ensure that things go the right way: otherwise anybody could do as he pleases, don’t you think…? In fact, for a while I noticed that something was wrong with the votes (as I already told you): themes that were “in the top of the charts” with more than good votes, suddenly disappeared giving way to other themes (even older than 1 year) with very few but so high votes. Are you a site Moderator OPTIMUS ,you seem to have amazing insight how things work on this site.
So did the Moderators slash all Yogosan & Montage M scores or did they sabotage their own scores ? How could the moderators here know how someone votes on other sites ? I’m not actually sure i believe those M-M scores (if they banned him), surely people can vote what they like ,or if a proxy server how do they know it’s him voting ? Ok, madthemez, maybe I misunderstood your intent and I apologize, but as you can see from the PS3 Themes comment right above, you can realize what I meant before: Yogosan themes (like many of mine) always had high ratings, then suddenly collapse. Very strange, don’t you think? So it’s very likely this theme has 2 stars for that reason and I’m not intrested in a “banned Montage Mik”… About the icons of my themes, maybe you should check better: you’ll realize that only my first themes were made with ready to use icons because I was a beginner and still… Read more »
One thing you guys should know about “Montage Mik” is that he’s full of bullshit. This is an example on how he treats other theme creators work (and most likely yours):
This is just a sample of his ratings since he also uses proxy servers to be able to rate themes more than once.
It’s the reason we banned him from this website. I know he’s been rating like this on other ps3 theme websites as well.
By the way Optimus , i notice many of your themes (last year) use the same “ready to use” eye cons.
Maybe they aren’t SONY icons but they are pre-made ready to use.
So it’s funny you slating me for it.
Does Yogosan post anywhere else ? I Know Montage Mik does i caught conversations with him & Yogosan on another site ,Montage said all his 3.15 themes were on this site (that’s why i came here) but they aren’t.

Well, a friend of mine solved the 4 DAYS QUIZ on the game site and he was able to download the demo about one week before the official date: when he told me, I didn’t believe… O_O
