Theme by uLtRaMa6nEt1c
I found this super banner on the interwebs and thought it would be dope if I could do something with it.
The theme and script is working and stable thanks in large part to Faxtron. I have dubbed it ‘SlideFlow’. I will be posting the script for everyone in the forum soon
Download Here
Now I have to do the tutorials
Cool, finally the fixed version its here
Thanks !
damn man, i didnt know that
@uLtRaMa6nEt1c & Doom
=> uLtRaMa6nEt1c / Doom: Yep, that’s a valid reason, Ultra… but I think it’s related only to portable consoles, which are in direct competition with phones and all that stuff.
)…
Phones and all other handheld devices in general are now able to do lots of things and they also have good games and very nice conversions… but if you really want to play, you necessarily need to get a home console (or a computer, according to preferences) so that you can comfortably sit on your couch or at the desk in your room and play your favourite games.
So, the only reason I can think of why consoles have started becoming anything but consoles is that most likely they’re now starting to have nothing more to offer in terms of graphics, if not some small improvement over the previous generation.
Think about it: graphics, more than anything else, has always been the main strong point in the design of a console since the day that consoles exist… that’s simply because graphics always been the first and most important thing that can make people understand that a given console may be far superior to another.
In the beginning, graphics was the perfect mean to show people that the video games played in the arcades, then converted on console, were “arcade perfect”… and with the birth of new consoles, also began the competition to make people see that the games converted on a certain console were more arcade perfect than the same ones converted on other consoles. And since there were no other relevant features for a console at that time, graphics has been the only leitmotif for nearly 30 years.
Over time, technology has progressed, allowing consoles to evolve and become more performing, so came new features – like reading audio CDs, for example, or the first real attempts to allow people going online (Dreamcast, or PS2) – but even so, graphics remained the point of reference to convince people to buy a console rather than another.
With new technologies, there was a huge qualitative graphics leap from one generation to another… from 16 to 32bit consoles, like PS1 and Sega Genesis/Saturn, the gap between the old generation and the new one has been literally abysmal; the same has been jumping from PS1/Genesis to PS2/Dreamcast/whatever, and so on.
Yet, if you notice, that graphics gap between old and new generations – as well as between one console and another – has started decreasing over time… in fact, we now have completely different consoles but with veeery similar graphics performances.
And here’s the point, in my opinion: given that the graphics gap between old and new generation is now drastically reduced (it actually is almost equal to zero, for me) there’s not much else that companies can do except trying to integrate a plethora of services that have nothing to do with the real gaming experience (I can’t do anything but think about Microsoft’s conference where basicly the only thing I heard was TV – TV – TV – TV – TV – TV, lol!
That means the graphics is going to be literally deposed from the role of reference point and “yardstick” between consoles in favor of many other things: well, honestly it’s not a bad stuff for me, since I’ve never been really interested in the mere graphics power… but this way, as I said before, consoles are going to become anything except the consoles that is supposed they should be.
Well, maybe I’m wrong, but that’s my (bad) impression about that…
=> Doom: Uhm… yeah, I seem I read somewhere that Sony has actually patented something called PlayStation TV!
@ultramagnet
yeah, i was gonna say something about that cloud. i dont know mutch about it but i heard it has something to do with storage, so the games can be stored there and external devices can be equipped with the operating system somehow or something. idk. so you can play on your sony cell phone like the vita, or your sony computer television, and the essence of having a solid system to hold on to will be eliminated, by the apps, and the clouds, im sure the ps4 is going to be eppic the power of this system will be a new experience all together but at the same time the way in witch its being used is its fate as an actual “gaming machine” as optimus said. i think there is a connection between a gamer and the system,
just like how you guys make themes that bring back old memorys sometimes. its a material object that you can share with someone. its more than just a box. its more than an application, it is part of the fabric of what makes a gamer a gamer.
for example there is a nintendo 64, ps1, ps2, and a perticular ps3 controller that i beat to death while playing rsv2, the left analog sticks up and to the right and the R2 button gets jammed,
i literally broke it with my fingers,
if my house was on fire you would probably find me shoving all that stuff in a book bag and jumping out the windo LOL. screw the other shit.. most of the other stuff is replacable to me, there would be other stuff i would grab first but if i had time the consoles are coming too!! lol. i would be outside with my arms wrapped around my back pack, watching my house burn. like phew* that was a close shave! i almost lost everything! LOL. ‘what the hell was so important that you ran back in the house for mike??’
@doom > I believe what your saying is correct with PlayStation and the like being an app in a TV or other device – hence the cloud.
@optimus.
that part abut consoles losing ther identity is part of what i was talking about, in my opinion a game console should only be what it was primarily built for
with absolutely no other distractions, it should be a network for gaming. not a network for everything..
and thats part of the reason why i said this may be the last gen of console. your absolutely right about that. it is losing its identity as a console and becoming more evolved into ‘something else’ its evolving into something that is growing out of what the essence of a gaming system was and into a computer in its self where computer technology is growing to handle all the shit a ps4 can do and after a while the concept of having a gaming system in your home will be out dated,
for instence we have consoles trying to be computers and tvs that are trying to be computers, what are the odds that in the future tv’s are going to have the same power of a ps4 built inside the television its self, and the tv will have a ps4 “app” like amazon or netflix, you will hafto pay monthly for services just like its beginning to work now. now what if sony sells these options with ther tvs exclusively.. because if technology outgrows the essence of a console, where does that billion dollar sony machine go? how does it keep going? the business will hafto adapt somehow in the collage of other businesses trying to adapt and survive by merging with other shit, or come up with n idea like the idea i mentioned about the tv “being” the console and sold exclusively. and thats what i mean. the concept of a real gaming console is becoming a head trip.
@TheLoneWolf989 > they are trying to do it for the reasons I stated below. Now you gotta get your mouse & keyboard to the couch or sacrifice a little responsiveness with a controller, lol.
I don’t get why consoles are trying to become multimedia boxes when that’s what a smart TV is for and guess what I’ve already got one so hook that up to a PC and I’ve got a way better experience.
@OPTIMUS > Also the reason why consoles are losing their identity is because of competition. Especially from the mobile market. These hand held devices can do everything. Phone, internet, movies , games, GPS, camera, alarm clock, music player/recorder etc. The console manufacturers have to figure out a way to make you buy their console instead of a device that can do way more stuff. They have to add some of that functionality to the console. Netflix and other TV/movie apps are a great way to do that because watching that at home on a nice HDTV is def better than watching it in the palm of your hand. Also it’s always about making more money than you did last year for companies. You have to get your product in more homes. Now you have to start making people who don’t play games like a gamer want a console. Nintendo was very successful with that with the Wii while still remaining primarily a game console. This gen is a different beast though. As a business you can’t stay stagnant. In order to grow you have to branch out into other areas. In the end it’s all business whether that’s good and/or bad.
@DemiGod, TheLoneWolf989, uLtRaMa6nEt1c, Doom & everyone:
Well, guys, it’s not a matter of being a fanboy and/or making console war, or graphics, or which console is more performing and stuff like that.
I agree with the fact that graphics can immerse you in a game better than before (so, more power = more graphics = better experience) but I think all are now too addicted to this stuff, and they’re forgetting the REAL meaning of video gaming.
But for me, there’s another and simple point: consoles are losing their identity as “game machines”…
Computers have been created for work, while consoles were born to allow people playing their favourite games from the arcades directly to their home.
They always been 2 diametrically opposed worlds:
– Computers were the innovation in the work field and have evolved becoming more and more powerful and efficient, allowing to perform increasingly complex tasks.
– Consoles were the innovation in the video games field and over time they evolved (I like to say they’re “reborn” every time), gaining new computational capacities that now let them to achieve very high quality levels.
Playing video games on computers was quite uncomfortable – if not nearly impossible – 20/30 years ago, so came the home computers like Commodore64, Atari-ST, Amiga500 and many others… but it wasn’t a problem, because consoles had been invented right for that purpose.
However, here lies the point, in my opinion: thanks to (or because of) the technological growth and progress, computers and consoles started to converge… so, we now have powerful computers for work (but able to let us play great games) and very sophisticated consoles to play (but also able to let us do many other things like watching TV, sharing stuff, talk to other people, etc)
As I see it, problem is that this way consoles are losing their identity as game machines, like I said at the beginning… that’s simply because they’re mainly born just to make us play the adventures that we could live in the arcades years ago (but progress is turning them into something completely different from what they were designed for): this has always been a kind of magic for me – as well as for many other people in the world, I think – from the days of the very first console created, but I have to say this magic has started dying after PS2…
Anyway, that’s just my opinion, of course.
@TheLoneWolf989: As for Metal Gear Solid: well, to be precise, technically it’s never been an exclusive game for PlayStation, since the series started eons ago (1987) on MSX2…
At most, we could say it became a “long temporary exclusive” only after the birth of PS1
@Rik: Hey, friend!

Well, actually I wasn’t worried for my theme… it’s just that I noticed that recently is happening that too often the themes remain on the main page for a very short time (as I said, only 3 days or so): I mean, you don’t even have the time to see them on the site that they already have been replaced by others…
I guess it probably depends on how many themes are queued waiting to be put on the page, but I think it would be better if there was a specific “staying time” for each theme uploaded, because it may happen that if someone asked you for a theme, but he got back here to check right after the 3 days the theme has been on the main page, that user might think his request wasn’t fulfilled. Sure, he could easily browse the other pages, but looks like that very often the main page is the only one that users check…
Anyway, thanks a lot for your words, my friend!
Aahh, I wish Yogosan was still here: I really miss him…
i dont know mutch about computers but i think you cant do better than a pc. although the price of a ps4 is insane for a system like this. i totally thought it would be more expensive at first, as soon as i saw what it could do i was like this thing is gonna be a million dollars.. lol. im gonna hold on to my ps3 for a while, ps4 is super awsome n stuff, but ps3 is ‘still’ super awsome too. pluss the price of ps3 games will go down, hardware will be cheaper, ps4 titles will be released on ps3 for a while still. ill wait to see if the first ps4’s are buggy. im not in a big hurry to spend $400 dollars when the prices on this still awsome system are gonna drop for games, controllers, headsets, stuff like that. ill get a ps4 when they are $200. probly. i really dont care what pc or ps4 or xbox is better, ps3 is still the shit… the games are still the shit.. the servers should be getting better with the pay to play shit going on,
to me personaly i think its a smart money move to hold on to the rig i got now for a while. ill just pick up a bigger external hard drive and move all these divx files out of my system and free up the majority of my gigs for all the new games im gonna be installing !
@uLtRaMa6nEt1c
I don’t think it is a heated debate but I think he does since he is a demigod and all. PC is best for multiplayer for sure. And GDDR5, does he realize that it’s based on GDDR3 and although better in some tasks it’s worst in others plus every graphics card nowadays has 1/2GB of GDDR5 so the PS4 doesn’t really have 8GB of ram but 6GB. The graphics card in the PS4 is the power of a 7850 but it’s only because it’s got an extreme overclock. It may have a 10 year plan but it won’t last 3/4 years because they won’t upgrade hardware. I’m done.
I didn’t realize this was a heated debate.
I work with a dude who’s a PC Gamer. He mostly plays MMOs and multiplayer. The PC is the perfect platform for that right now. That may change with the next gen and cross platform gaming. I don’t think this is the last console gen. There’s at least a 10 year plan for next gen. We’ll have to wait and see, but I’m excited for what’s coming in the next year.
Where do you build your PC? Do me a favor and visit the forums here in this site, and check the PlayStation 4 topic I have opened. Read the stats. Lower mid PC? If anything, I don’t know how many PC’s worldwide are equipped with a GDDR5. Also, in order for me to build a PC with half the power of the PS4 (i5, medium graphics card) it costed at least 720 euros (almost twice the price of the console). My friend’s PC is a gaming one, costed him 1,200 euros and it’s still not as fast as PS4. You know why? Because PC runs all sorts of background tasks, PS4 although a multitasking system, it primarily runs gaming content. Everything is integrated to the system, we don’t have to “download xFire or Skype to do voice chat”. I will repeat myself: If you can build a PC that is as powerful as the PS4 (same hardware) for the same price (400) and include peripherals as well (screen, mouse & keyboard, headphones) only then a PC can be better. As it stands right now, no PC is as powerful as PS4 at that price point.
Also, that IGN article was published on 2006. Like, seriously, I can come with an article for PS2 that said it was the most successful console of all time and gave Sony much profit. Don’t forget that PS3 has a blu-ray drive in it, it raised the cost of the console for a reason.
Also, exclusives.

Topic closed, I will not reply to future messages be it through here or pm, it’s not like I am trying to change your mind or anything but your last reply was ridiculous to the point that it’s not worth my time anymore.
@uLtRaMa6nEt1c
PC has had 3D for years. Also PS4 is not a top of the line PC, it’s a lower mid of the line PC.
@DemiGod7
Microsoft and Sony make a loss on the consoles for years http://go.ign.com/12Bnklw http://bit.ly/9fsZlW but the way they get the money is through advertising, PS Plus and PS store. What I meant about the graphics is they help immerse you as well as the story does. I know console gaming isn’t going anywhere anytime soon but give it 5-10 years and they will be gone.
Also, Games in 3D are REAL DOPE (when done right). Black Ops 2, Uncharted 3, Arkham City, Shadow of the Colossus, and Super Stardust look insane in 3D. 3D blu-rays too. I don’t know if PC does that, but I love my PS3 for that. That’s it from me for now
@DemiGod7 > Rockstar gave XBOX the exclusive rights for GTA 4 with the DLC initially. And Chinatown wars with Nintendo initially. But Rockstar is still a console company as you said, for now.
Again, it’s not the same. The consoles have been around for 30+ years, they are a part of the gaming community, they won’t be going away anytime soon because they are immensely popular and successful. Also, you don’t work in either Sony or Microsoft, so how do you know whether they’ll be having losses or not? Story is not an argument, games coming out for PC and console have the same story regardless of graphics. Also, take the strongest PC out there. They cannot run the exclusives like PS3 which is why there are not emulators out there that supprort PS3 games. Plus, PS3 can run 1920×1080 full HD if the game is optimized correctly (GT5-GT6). Why would I spend time on PC? MMO’s? Nope. Modding? Booooring. These stuff are not for me. You wanna play Steam games? That’s fine, in the meantime I’ll just enjoy all the current (and to be announced) games coming to consoles. I have been doing it for about 10 years, I am not going to switch now.
@DemiGod7 & TheLoneWolf989 > What I agree with and don’t agree with: I care about graphics and performance. I’ve played tons of 2, 8, 16, 32, 64, and 128 bit games. No more. If it ain’t HD I can’t do it. Skyward Sword is an awesome game. I couldn’t do it. It wasn’t HD. While the PS4 is comparable mid and top of the line PCs today, in 2 to 4 years PC graphics and hardware will far surpass PS4. While the PS4 will remain a PS4 for 10+ years, PCs will double and triple in performance. And the mouse and keyboard combo is faster and more responsive too. I’m no PC gamer, but I won’t ignore it’s superiority. I do agree with DemiGod7 about the comfort of gaming from my couch on a nice 40″+ HDTV with my feet up, chillin’. Now that the games are in HD that comfort trumps everything. Sometimes I think there are too many buttons on these game controllers. Having a keyboards’ worth of buttons to press is scary, LOL. That’s my 2 cents
Don’t care for Steam, really, Steam has way better offers than PS Plus and has way more free games, when ever i’m on console I play with headphones and so do a lot of other people and a 19″ screen, who the hell would play with that? You can play with a controller on PC easily it’s just a choice. Performance and graphics are important, the graphics immerse you in the game play as well as the story does and performance makes everything smooth. Yes some titles are exclusive to console but remember there are titles that are exclusive to PC. Price is probably the only upside to console but then again what do you expect when Sony and Xbox will be making a loss on every console they sell and then don’t make money on the games because that £40 ($60) is the cost of production and shipping, which is why PC is so cheap for games and combined with the free online it will be cheaper in the long run. If you spent a little time on PC you would see it’s better and I know that to be a fact since some of my friends have done that over this year and haven’t looked back at console since.
PC is far, far from a better experience. It’s not even compared to consoles. What, better shading? 60fps and 1920×1080 full HD? Anti-Aliasing? Nope, we don’t care for all that, we don’t really care for Steam either (PS Plus) and PS4 is becoming more like a PC either ways. It’s stronger than PC (it costs 400. The day you can build a PC with 400 that is as powerful as the PS4, then they will be the same. Including peripherals as well). Most people don’t get this, but the best experience and one of the reasons we buy consoles is so i can sit on my couch with my beer with a controller in my hands and enjoy a nice game, not in front of my little 19″ screen with headphones on. Moving my PC to my TV is not even an argument, why would I do that lol. Also, we don’t care about graphics or performance. The Crew, The Division, Destiny…..some of the biggest next gen games are coming to consoles only. Also, the top line platformers of Sony where they cannot be found anywhere else. Fighting games like Tekken. Yes, maybe Rockstar is hiring a PC programmer, but if anything, we don’t know if it is for GTA V yet, nothing is confirmed. Rockstar has exclusive deals with PlayStation, they have been for the past 20 years since the first GTA released on PS1. Power does not equal a better experience, that is a fact. MMO’s? They are coming to consoles as well, Diablo III, Warframe, Blacklight: Retribution, DC Universe Online……free to play model.
@DemiGod7
What were you saying about Rockstar? http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/Rockstar-Hiring-PC-Programmer,news-44781.html
@DemiGod7
I said PC gaming is going up not PC sales since most gamers will build their own or get someone to build them one. Yes console sales are going up but not for their purpose of gaming but for Netflix etc.. Also most console buyers buy them for their cheapness and/or because they don’t know that PC is a better experience.
@Mr. Shizzy > Thank you.
Faxtron and myself will most definitely share the script when it is stable.
The first person to upload a theme with this style was Saqurado which is stable, but he/she is not around often to trade info.
I’m making a tutorial for the Ultra SlideShow which is an easy, open, and fixed alternative to GlowBall’s Alpha SlideShow.
Awesome!! Love this new theme style!
Will you be sharing the script when you get it fixed to your liking?
Love it man, keep up the great work!
Thanks everyone. I’m trying to fix the script with MAJOR help from Faxtron.
Huh, that’s pretty funny cause I have been hearing the exact opposite. PC sales have been declining, certain games have been releasing on console primarily (e.g most Rockstar games) and if anything, hundreds of devs are excited for the next gen, and I am not talking about just the indies that have great deals with Sony. Ubisoft, Gearbox Software, EA, all the big companies can finally create those online experinces they always wanted. Meanwhile, there is crazy demand for the next gen since both XB1 and PS4 are selling like crazy at major retailers (Gamestop, Best Buy) or even online stores (eBay, Amazon) and “the demand is bigger than ever”. If anything, there is much more hype for next gen than 7 years ago with previous systems. I don’t know where you get your info from, but all major gaming media are saying those exact things.
@DemiGod7
I’m sorry about what I said but you have to understand that it’s annoying for someone to down vote without giving a reason. About the games, there maybe 140 games being developed but there mostly indie games that will also be found on PC or already are e.g. War Thunder. Console gaming is going down and this has been proven, I read an article that said about 40% of Xbox 360’s aren’t used for gaming also PC gaming is now on the rise so all the PS4 is doing is stopping PC gamers from getting games they want. And one last point, the games series that we all love and know as Metal Gear(Solid) is no longer exclusive to PS and is now moving to PC because even the developer says console gaming is dying and so do many other developers. The PS3 was a beast in it’s time, the PS4 is no beast and isn’t revolutionary so it is clearly not worthy of being the PS3’s successor.
@TheLoneWolf989, I am not the one who downvoted but……you’re kinda wrong. People expect much more from PS4 besides inFamous and GT. There are over 140 games being developed right now for the console. Just wait it out a bit, it might be as successful as PS2, who knows.
-2
I get a -1 for talking bad about the PS4, well we all know your a fanboy who won’t comment because he/she’ll look like a dick.
You’ve done a great job on this theme +1. It’s a shame that themes on this site have come so far but will be useless when PS4 comes
and by the time PS4 does come out i’ll be on PC, maybe if there was an option for different graphics cards in the PS4 I would get it but there isn’t. The only thing that will attract people to PS4 is Infamous and Gran Turismo and because of them I just might get a PS4 but there isn’t much hope
wow. truly spectacular
ultra i know that you’ll get the hang of this, but for a first time effort it is well done.
Optimus i currently have your static theme on my ps3
you did a stellar job my friend. yogosan would be proud!
What…? New themes already?
Man, the last ones have been on the page for only 3 days O_o
Ah well…
@uLtRaMa6nEt1c: Wow! Great job, my friend, both themes are awesome, and very good icons!
Lol! I was using the same banners for my theme, but then I opted for the “tech version” with the Jaegers specs…
Very well done, +1!
Good job ultra with both themes. Thanks !
Thank You & awesome work
now do The Lone Ranger -_- lol
We need more original ideas, as I said in the messages….a job well done!
