Theme by Faxtron/OPTIMUS
Ok, guys: time ago, Faxtron and I were talking about the good old 80’s, when we remembered a very nice fantasy movie of that period… so, we decided to cooperate to create an animated theme as tribute to that movie.
Well, most likely many of you guys will not be able to remember this movie, but we wanted to pay homage… so, here is “The NeverEnding Story”.
Faxtron asked me to be the one who would have uploaded the theme (and for me, it has been a real pleasure and an honor to fulfil his request)… but let me tell you this, guys: even if I drew the background and the elements, the creation of this theme wouldn’t have been possible without the valuable support of Faxtron, because HE is the one who created all the “special effects” like the glow that pulses around the stars and around the Ivory Tower’s light, as well as the falling stars and the other animations… so, thanks a lot, mate, for all the effort you’ve put into this theme!
And I also have to thank you, Faxtron, for giving me this opportunity because, in a sense, it’s as if I had created my very first animated theme. Thanks again, friend!

@BRIAN: Well, mate… actually the project started as a “8 bit version” theme: the graphic would had to be literally pixelated like the good old games. But then I thought it would have been too simple, almost poor for a tribute theme to that movie, so I decided to draw everything so that it was as close to the movie as possible but trying at the same time to keep somehow unchanged the classic feeling of the 80’s.
That was the intention, and that’s the result: I’m sorry you didn’t understand…

As for the font… well, I don’t see what’s the problem, given that you can easily change it from your PS3’s settings.
And about the “red background”: if you mean the one that pops out when choosing an option, well… same thing, you can easily change it too.
He,he,he,he was my teenage years too my friend. I’m 35 years old…:) Like said OPTIMUS another oldie here on PS3-themes.
You know was my best years in life, for real. I love the 80’s… good music, good movies, good toys, good cartoons, everything for that days was perfect for me

@RADZ You are right my friend with your comment that is the purpose and the whole idea here on this theme create it to look the more 80′ as posible. I’m happy with that, because the users see it at it as is an 80s theme look. Optimus definitely did a great job with all the designs and elements on this theme.

I think thats the whole point of the theme m8 to look and feel like the 80s.
so many positive comments & I’m sure it took a lot of effort to make, BUT here’s some negatives.
Awful cursor for web.
Set on worst font, default pop best & red background isn’t one of the better backgrounds.
Plus it looks like the start screen from a Commodore 64 game from the early 80s.

It’s not at all like my previous theme, I have done none of the art myself, but I wanted to make a theme about it as I couldn’t find any. Also, I hope the theme might bring some karma. (hint to site) :p

Got it fixed, just copy/pasted it into paint and saved it again and it worked!
I think I’ve uploaded it, but there were some problems in the uploading process.. I don’t wanna upload it again, so I’ll wait and see and if it doesn’t get up by the next update I’ll try to upload it again.
@DAHL: Well, it usually happens when a picture’s file is a “hybrid” (it happened to me too)…
Sometimes (but I don’t really understand why they do that) thanks to some programs like the one I use, images can be saved in a hybrid format: practically, the image is saved as JPG, but that’s just its extention because actually the image is BMP, TGA, GIF and so on…
So, very often it happens that other programs, or compilers, etc are able to “see” the file, thanks to the extention, but then they’re not able to open it.
However (unless the image’s internal data are corrupted) it’s not a real problem because with the right program you can simply save the image again as a “normal” JPG.

Nice job guys, I was really amazed/happy since I first saw the preview show up on youtube (: To be honest these types of movies, never ending story, labyrinthe, the dark crystal always kind of creeped me out when I was little lol but the theme is soooo good (;

Well, another website has taken my time, a website which I am devoting my next theme to. (yes, you read it right, I’m making a new theme)
Besides that I’ve just.. Lived my life I guess, since you were gonna disappear and nobody really had heard from Yogosan in a while i didn’t really comment on much, I still hung out in the shadows though, until i found the site I talked about earlier. Then i just kind of ‘forgot’ this one, but I’m back, and I’m gonna be more active on here.
Glad to hear that all is relatively well in your end, and even though you’re not the same Optimus anymore, you’re still my favorite Optimus, lol!

The theme’s based on the very first movie (personally, I think it has been the best fantasy of the 80’s) I saw the other 2 movies, but I think they’re not so good like the first one…

@RADZ Thanks man for you comment. About your question, you don’t have to change nothing in the .xml or in .js only you have to create with all the individual elements your own animation (DDS) frame by frame adding and creating the animation in photoshop, Gimp or other image manipulating program you use to create your themes. Or you can use the method proposed by RoBeast to create your own animation. The (raf) files are the same used nothing change
@Dahl Ohh yes, I saw some work from you on the past like your “Random Theme” you know I’m a user of this site some time ago. Creating themes for this site I’m new but I’m a old school visitor. Some time ago I decide to create my first theme inspired by other awesome works that I saw in this site. You know, one day boring and thinking why I don’t share and create my own themes for all here like other do. And after that day I get some fun hours making themes for all of us here. Thanks to the help of others themes makers like : Glowball, Optimus and others users from here in the forum.Thanks for your comment and appreciation on the themes

Nice theme! I remember this movie (36).
Radz, the background has to be included in your animation. For example, in my “Awakening” them I created the background in Photoshop then imported it into After Effects for the rain and eye animation.
I used a timeframe of 68 frames and rendered it out. When importing video frames to layers in Photoshop I checked the limit to every to frames box. That gave me a total of 34 frames which is the max you can use at 1280×720. Export layers to files into the AnimatedFull folder then automate using the same folder. The dae bg layer has to be converted to dds but do not change the layer itself. Settings are dxt1 no alpha. The rest is business as usual. Hope that helps.
Ohhh man finally its here, I’m very happy today to see this theme here. For me is the best animated/dynamic theme I ever create at the moment. As I said this theme is special for me because is created everything from scratch : animation, icons, backgrownd,etc,etc. You know everything is hand made by OPTIMUS and me with custom Icons. And is created in a coop team with OPTIMUS a legend here and one of the best theme makers on this site, for me is a pleasure and a privilege to work with him. I hope all of you like it

Btw guys how do you put a background in the full theme ?. Does it need to be coded in the xml.
